About Computer Aided Dispatch

Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems are utilized by dispatchers, call- takers, and 911 operators to prioritize and record incident calls, maintain status of field units, and effectively dispatch responders. Typically, when a dispatcher receives a call, the CAD system aids the dispatcher in determining the location of the caller, providing pre-arrival instructions, logging relevant information, and notifying first responders.
